Yahoo and Clear Channel have announced a content-sharing partnership in which iHeartRadio will become Yahoo’s official digital radio service. Yahoo’s original programming will be available in audio versions through Clear Channel, and Yahoo will offer exclusive webcasts of live concert events including this year’s iHeartRadio Music Festival under the terms of the partnership. This deal could be an important one: Yahoo is desperate to stop the bleeding right now, and it likely sees exclusive content as a key piece to the puzzle. However, Yahoo’s similar deal with Disney-owned ABC News that was forged in early October of last year hasn’t yet succeeded in ending the company’s recent struggles. Both Clear Channel and Yahoo stand to benefit from cross-promoting content to a wider audience, combining Yahoo’s 167 million monthly online users in the US with Clear Channel’s 237 million monthly US listeners. The companies did not disclose the financial terms of the partnership.
