After the Sprint version of the Galaxy S III receive an over-the-air update that (among other things) removed the ability to search on-device, we imagined that it would only be a matter of time before other carriers follow suit. AT&T is the first to drop the OTA bomb, which Android Central reports includes a radio update along with the aforementioned change. We’ve reached out to Samsung for comment on the updates, whether they’re related to the ongoing Apple v. Samsung lawsuit, and whether and when we can expect them to arrive on other carriers.

In the meantime, AT&T Galaxy S III owners will be dealing with a less-functional search bar after the update. Unless, of course, they’re geeky enough to download the old app file for the Google Quick Search Box and install it after the update.
