Phandroid’s Android Forums announced this week that a hacker recently accessed the message board’s user table along with a variety of fields including usernames, email addresses, and hashed passwords, potentially affecting all of its one million-plus users. In a forum post announcing the situation on Tuesday, a forum administrator said the breach was most likely an email harvesting scheme and recommended that members keep a close eye on their inbox for spam. While the lost passwords were hashed — meaning they can’t be used to access other services through normal means — Android Forums is encouraging all of its members to immediately change their passwords.
