Twitter has released an official app for Nokia Series 40 phones. Its feature list looks fairly rich, and the app offers much of the functionality of its smartphone counterparts. Within the app there are five tabbed views to choose from: Timeline, Mentions, Connect, Me, and Compose.

Like most featurephone platforms, S40 runs Java apps, so it wouldn’t be too much work for Twitter to release the app for a wider range of phones. Series 40 may not be too popular in the US or Europe, but over the past years Nokia has been targeting emerging markets with phones like the Asha series with a great deal of success.
