Earlier today, 35-year-old Masayuki Nishimura was arrested in Osaka, Japan for selling "majikon," blank flashcarts enabling game piracy on the Nintendo DS. The man is the first to be arrested at a retail location since last year's amendment to Japan's Unfair Competition Prevention Act allowing criminal charges to be attributed to the sale of flashcarts, according to Kyodo News and Wired. This isn't the first arrest, however, as many online retailers have already been apprehended for similar crimes.

Despite selling these illegal piracy tools as separate components, the shop the man worked for was hardly discreet — its name is “Majipara,” or “majikon paradise.” The shop’s Twitter page directs users to a website with a list of DS game ROMs that its devices can play, leaving police with little doubt about the intentions — and legitimacy — of the shop.
