An image of the Samsung Jasper (aka SCH-I200), a long-rumored mid-range Android smartphone, has leaked on Twitter. The tweet also gave a brief rundown of the purported specifications of the device, echoing what we’d previously heard. The Jasper will apparently arrive with LTE connectivity and a high-end Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8960 SoC, the likes of which you’ll find in the American variants of HTC and Samsung’s flagship smartphones, the One X and Galaxy S III. Its display, unfortunately, is decidedly less high-end: this is the second time it’s been reported that the Jasper will arrive with a dated WVGA (800 x 480) unit of unknown proportions.

The phone will reportedly run Android 4.0, and appears to have — for the first time on a Samsung device — a dedicated key for multitasking in place of the traditional search button, and a redesigned ICS-like menu key. There’s no clue as to a release date yet, but as the Jasper has clearly been in the works for some time, we can’t imagine it’ll be too far away.
