Google has introduced a new app for its social network that adds live captions to Google+ Hangouts. The app is designed for users who are deaf or hearing impaired, and currently only supports manual transcription — you have the option of either connecting live text from StreamText’s professional service, or simply having someone in the Hangout transcribe what’s happening manually. However, Google’s Naomi Black says that in its current state Hangout Captions is “an early look at the app,” so additional features could be coming in the future.
