With a new Kindle device potentially on the horizon, Amazon has announced that its library of Kindle-exclusive ebooks has seen more than 100 million downloads to date. Those downloads include not just sales, but also books that have been borrowed through the Kindle Lending Library program. Currently over 180,000 titles are exclusive to Amazon’s e-reader, though unfortunately it’s not quite clear how Kindle-exclusive titles currently fare compared to the rest of the Kindle library.

Back in April Amazon announced that Kindle-exclusive titles took up 16 of the top 100 best-selling Kindle books, and in March the company revealed that it had sold more than two million of the short-form Kindle Singles, which are also exclusive to Kindle. Meanwhile, today Amazon also revealed some information on how its Kindle Direct Publishing Select program is working out — according to the company, for authors that signed up for the program in July, royalties from paid sales in August increased 77 percent compared to the previous three months.
