The popular media server app Plex is getting a significant update, and for the first time giving its users the option of a paid tier of service. Subscribers to the $3.99-a-month PlexPass will get early access to new features, starting with an all-new, faster web client. Plex says the client’s new dashboard view lets you access your library sections, recently viewed channels, myPlex queue, and recommendations, and the movie view lets you quickly apply multiple filters to drill through your film library. If you’d like to try it out, the web client beta is open to paid PlexPass users running the new media server software, v0.9.6.8.
