If you’re a Kindle Fire owner and a Cablevision subscriber, your TV-watching experience is about to get an upgrade — Cablevision’s Optimum app is now available in the Amazon App Store for Kindle Fire owners. Unlike the app that’s available in the Google Play store for Android smartphones and tablets, the Optimum app for Kindle Fire will offer users the ability to stream any channels they pay for to the Kindle Fire — but only when you’re hooked up to your home Wi-Fi network. Along with that headlining feature, Optimum also offers the option to control your cablebox, manage your DVR, and rate programs and view recommendations. It sounds like the Kindle Fire app is at parity with Cablevision’s iOS offerings, and definitely surpasses what every other Android device gets at the moment. We’re hoping that Cablevision pushes the live TV feature out to its standard Android app before long.
