Lost co-creator Damon Lindelof and The Incredibles director Brad Bird have been working on a secret project provisionally titled 1952, and Entertainment Weekly reports that the movie now has a new name — Tomorrowland, seemingly after the Jules Verne-inspired futuristic zones found in Disneyland theme parks.

George Clooney set to star

While very little has been confirmed on the movie, Tomorrowland is said to be a live-action affair starring George Clooney, with Lindelof and Bird collaborating on the script. Many who saw Prometheus, the last movie to have Lindelof attached as a writer, will no doubt be relieved to see him announce via Twitter that Tomorrowland is not about aliens.

Bird and Lindelof also teased details of the movie via a couple of tweeted photos; Lindelof first posted a picture of a box with a label saying “1952,” and Bird followed with a picture of its contents. As pointed out by Entertainment Weekly, the box contained a vinyl record, a magazine featuring Buck Rogers, and something that looks like a rocket nozzle, alongside some photos of Walt Disney.

All of this would seem to tie the project quite firmly to the retro-future aesthetic displayed by the Disneyland Tomorrowland zones, which might not seem like the most solid basis for a movie — but remember, that’s just about exactly how we ended up with Pirates of the Caribbean. Tomorrowland is set to open on December 19th, 2014.
