The compilers of the Oxford English Dictionary add new words every quarter, but contenders have a long journey before being graced a permanent spot in the dictionary’s hallowed pages. According to the BBC, editors have highlighted the front runners for inclusion in the next version of the dictionary, and “dumbphone” is right in the middle of the pack. The word will have to prove its longevity to make it, but considering “captcha” passed the test last quarter, we think “dumbphone” may have a good chance.
