Fujifilm has announced two new compact cameras: the X100S, a successor to the popular X100 that promises the “world’s fastest autofocus” of its kind and the X20, which follows the X10. The X100S has been updated with a new 16.3 megapixel APS-C X-Trans CMOS II sensor, as well as a faster processor, the EXR II. Fujifilm promises the sensor will allow for autofocus of .08 seconds, and that with the processor, it will produce dramatically better resolution and noise reduction. There’s also a new feature that displays “dual images on the left and right” and then allows them to be lined up and focused manually, along with one that highlights areas in focus.

The lower-specced X20 has gotten a similar update, with a 12 megapixel 2/3-inch X-Trans CMOS II sensor and the same processor as the X100S. Fujifilm touts autofocus speeds of .06 seconds for the X20, and its optical viewfinder has been updated with additional shooting information. Both new cameras leaked a couple of days ago, and the fundamental facts were correct: while the cameras’ internals have changed, both have maintained the distinctive retro look of their predecessors. Pricing and availability, however, are still a mystery.
