British musician Peter Gabriel has created a new music app with “RoboProfessor” Henrik Hautop Lund that lets users remix music on their iPhone or iPad. While the concept of the mobile remix is nothing new, MusicTiles aims to make it easier with a simplified UI. Once you choose your source material you’ll be presented with a grid of tiles that each represent different instruments. Rearranging the tiles will allow you to blend disparate elements together and create an entirely new composition. In-app music is, unsurprisingly, a selection of tracks and remixes from Gabriel’s So album, and you’ll be able to buy more material through the app. MusicTiles will be out later today on iPad and iPhone for $2.99.
