South Park has been on our television sets since 1997, but after more than 1000 episodes, the show won’t air on time tonight for the first time in its history. The episode, “Goth Kids 3: Dawn of the Posers,” will be delayed, according to show creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker.

Stone and Parker, of BASEketball fame, have pushed production of South Park to a breakneck pace, with each new episode completed on a weekly cycle. Sometimes episodes are completed just before the scheduled air time, which contributed to tonight’s rare miss. “On Tuesday night, South Park Studios lost power,” a message on the show’s official site says. “From animation to rendering to editing and sound, all of our computers were down for hours and we were unable to finish episode 1704 in time for air tonight.”
“It sucks to miss an air date,” Parker said, “but after all these years of tempting fate by delivering the show last minute, I guess it was bound to happen.” Tonight’s show will air next Wednesday October 23rd, but tonight you can enjoy one of the show’s all-time best episodes: “Scott Tenorman Must Die.”
