With Veterans Day in the US tomorrow, The Washington Post has put together Portraits of War, a look at some of the men and women who’ve documented the major conflicts of the past 150 years in photographs. A number of the photographers in the piece made their names capturing the horrors of the American Civil War — including Mathew Brady, one of the most famous photographers of the 19th century, whose extensive portfolio now resides in the National Archives and the Library of Congress. See the entire striking collection in high resolution on the Post’s site.
