The Moto G wasn't supposed to arrive in the US until January, but Motorola is already beginning to take orders on certain models for shipping next week, on December 2nd. For now, only the phone's GSM model — which should work on both AT&T and T-Mobile, among other carriers — is available for order, and Motorola tells us that its Verizon model is still planned for January. At $179 off-contract, the Moto G is quite the deal for those on prepaid plans. While such a low price usually suggests that plenty of corners have been cut, our first look at the Moto G left us pretty impressed by what Motorola was able to pull off: a capable low-cost sibling to its flagship Moto X.

Correction: A previous version of this article stated that the Moto G would ship on January 2nd. It is shipping on December 2nd; the article has been corrected to reflect that change.
