The escape-room gaming business is booming in Beijing. The Wall Street Journal has a great story about the converted bomb shelters, office complexes, and apartment buildings where groups of friends must solve puzzles in under an hour in order to get out. It's modeled after Takagism, an online game popular in Japan. The puzzles range from chemistry equations to aligning a set of skulls to twisting through a Mission Impossible-style web of lasers without setting off an alarm, all for the price of a movie ticket. If you fail, a guide will come in and explain the rest of the puzzles. No word on the Start to Crate time.
In China, people are paying $13 to be locked in a room and forced to solve puzzles to get out
