We first caught word of the Sony NEX-3N earlier this month courtesy of an alleged photo, and now it looks like press images have leaked out as well. The images appeared on Japanese site Digicame Info — the same source that revealed Canon’s EOS M ahead of time — and if authentic they give our first view of the camera from the front and back.

The NEX-3N seems to follow the path set by previous entry-level Sony mirrorless cameras, but the design is more compact and minimal than the slightly awkward NEX-F3 that’s on sale at the moment, with a much shallower grip. As we saw before, the main design change appears to be the addition of a zoom lever around the shutter button for use with the 16-50mm power zoom lens.
It looks like the camera will use a 16.1-megapixel APS-C sensor, in common with the current NEX-F3 and 5R. Beyond these details there isn’t a lot to go on, but if the images are real we’d expect an announcement soon.
