Word broke today that Thomas Pynchon’s eighth novel, Bleeding Edge, will be set in the New York startup scene after the collapse of the 90s dotcom bubble, according to Sarah Weinman of Publisher’s Markeplace. The author, best known for 1973’s Gravity’s Rainbow, is famous for dense, information-soaked novels, often with sci-fi elements. Pynchon is also known for reclusive personal habits — he prefers not to be photographed, and gives few interviews — but has increased his profile in recent years, including two appearances on the Simpsons. Bleeding Edge is due out from September 17th from Penguin Press.
