With a fresh visual redesign under its belt, Slacker is now making the leap to consoles. Initially announced way back at E3 2012, Slacker for Xbox 360 is now available as a free download to Xbox Live Gold subscribers. Once signed up, you’ll have access to Slacker’s music catalog which the company says now stretches into the millions. “Expert-programmed” stations can also be streamed from the app. In celebration of its console launch, Slacker has tapped Destructoid editor Dale North to host and curate a gaming-themed station that promises to play “hand-picked selections from the soundtracks of epic franchises including Halo, Gears of War, and Final Fantasy.”

Slacker isn’t the first music app to arrive on Xbox: it joins Rhapsody, iHeartRadio, last.fm, and Microsoft’s own Xbox Music service. Spotify and Pandora remain the major holdouts to this point— neither company has yet been affiliated with any of this generation’s home consoles.
