Amazon’s largest tablet offering, the Kindle Fire HD 8.9, just got slightly more affordable for buyers in the United States. The base Wi-Fi model is now $269 (down from $299) but even more savings await those of you looking at the 4G / LTE-enabled hardware. It’s now $399 — a full $100 cheaper than yesterday’s going rate. The high-capacity 64GB SKU now slots in at the $499 price point.
Amazon cuts Kindle Fire HD 8.9 price to $269 in US, expands international availability

International availability of the Fire HD 8.9 is also expanding. Amazon says the device can now be purchased in the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain and Japan. Buyers in Japan were able to pre-order the 8.9-inch tablet late last month, signaling an imminent launch. At the time, the company said it would ship on March 12th, but we won’t fault Amazon for missing the target by a mere day.
