Companies will begin polling users with in-tweet surveys later this year. According to PRWeek, Twitter will be expanding its survey functionality — which was first released last fall exclusively for the social network’s own @TwitterSurveys account — to companies like Samsung, Heineken, and Honda. The expansion of the feature to third parties comes as part of a deal Twitter struck this week with ad-buyer Starcom MediaVest Group. SMG, whose clients include Procter & Gamble, Coca-Cola, Walmart, and Microsoft, is said to get access to analytic and advertising tools (like in-tweet surveys) as part of the deal. SMG has a limited exclusivity period on in-tweet surveys. The Financial Times first reported on SMG’s partnership with Twitter earlier in the week.
