Microsoft is taking its Windows Phone App for Desktop out of preview today, while adding in some additional features. The application, that lets Windows Phone users sync media between a phone and PC, will now include improved iTunes podcast support to automatically sync to devices. Microsoft is also adding in improved library support to sync files from any folders on a PC, including external HDDs.

The usual performance improvements and bug fixes are included, and future updates to the application will be made available directly in the app. While the app works on the desktop mode in Windows 8, there’s also a separate Windows 8-style application available too. This particular desktop app is designed to be used for managing music from iTunes. The updated application is available immediately from Microsoft’s Windows Phone site.
