Michael Bay developing ‘Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon’ movie

Ubisoft, Michael Bay, and Warner Bros. are teaming up to develop a movie based on the Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon series. Describing Michael Bay as “one of Hollywood’s boldest feature film directors,” Ubisoft says the project has “huge potential” to be a smash hit. The Ghost Recon series follows a squad of Special Forces who take on highly classified missions. The first game came out in 2001 and has spawned a number of sequels and expansions.

Michael Bay, who had just released Pearl Harbor when the first Ghost Recon game came out, has spent much of the past five years working on Transformers sequels (he’s currently planning a third), and aside from the 2005 bomb The Island, has placed law enforcement and military figures close to the center of all of his movies. There’s no word on whether Bay will be directing or merely producing the movie, but if he does direct it, prepare yourself for explosions, guns, American flags, and soft-rock music.
