A building has opened in China that officials claim is the largest structure in the world — so large that it could fit the Sydney Opera House 20 times over inside its walls. CBS News reports that the New Century Global Center, which opened on June 28th in southwestern China’s Sichuan province, is approximately 1640 feet long, 1312 feet wide, and 328 feet high. That comes out to more than 2.1 million square feet of floor space, and it’s enough to house a 14-screen movie theater, offices, a water park with an artificial beach, and a skating rink that’s large enough to play host to international skating competitions.
‘World’s largest building’ opens in China complete with artificial sun

The structure took three years to complete, and is roughly three times the size of the Pentagon. CNET reports that the building even features an artificial sun that provides light and heat throughout the day, while an LED screen 164 yards in length provides an artificial horizon.
