LG has revealed the Lifeband Touch fitness tracker, dipping its toes once more into the wearable fitness market. The band keeps track of calories burned, steps walked, and other fitness statistics with a 3-axis accelerometer and altimeter, while an OLED touch display acts lets users see phone notifications, check biometrics, and play music from a smartwatch — users can either swipe through details on the display or simply see the time by rotating their wrist. The Lifeband is compatible with Android and iOS phones through Bluetooth 4.0, connecting to LG’s own fitness app or a number of partner apps, including MyFitnessPal, Runkeeper, and MapMyFitness. It can also be paired with the newly announced Heart Rate Earphones, a set of earbuds equipped with sensors that measure the wearer’s pulse by checking blood flow in the ear.

The Lifeband Touch was leaked before CES, and it looks a lot like the earlier Smart Activity Tracker (which in turn looked an awful lot like the Nike FuelBand.) That tracker never actually reached the public after debuting at CES 2013 and we still don't have a price for this model, but LG promises this time will be different, setting a launch date for the Lifeband and Heart Rate Earphones in the first half of the year.

Update: At its Monday press conference, LG officially announced the Lifeband Touch and Heart Rate Earphones, following a Korean press release on Sunday night. This post has been updated to reflect the latest information.
