During a press conference at CES 2014, AT&T Mobility CEO Ralph de La Vega revealed that the company will launch HD voice service later this year. AT&T follows T-Mobile and Sprint, both of which have already launched similar services. The first device to support HD voice on AT&T’s network will be the Asus Padfone X. The Padfone X also supports VoLTE (voice over LTE) and LTE Advanced, though AT&T did not say when those services would actually be available.

HD voice, which has been available in other parts of the world for a number of years, offers improved voice quality and sound for calls between cellphones. AT&T had initially promised to launch the service last year, but the service has been delayed from the original plans.
