Blizzard, the video game studio best known for creating highly-polished, critically beloved, financially successful games like World of Warcraft, StarCraft 2, Diablo 3, and most recently Hearthstone, announced its newest property today: Overwatch. We know the game will be an online team-based multiplayer first-person shooter. The footage shown at today’s Blizzcon, an annual conference where the company makes big announcements directly to its fans, calls to mind Team Fortress, the popular online shooter by Valve, another company known for obsessing over the quality of its wares, and achieving staggering success.
