Flappy Bird has captivated the masses, but apparently also some of the world’s best indie game developers. Super Hexagon creator Terry Cavanagh and Canabalt / Hundreds creator Adam Saltsman have offered up their own takes on the “ultra-hard, takes one button to play” game genre. Cavanagh’s title, Maverick Bird, asks you to maneuver a block through a claustrophobic series of tunnels, and includes the developer’s trademark graphics and schizophrenic electronic soundtrack. Saltsman’s game, Flappybalt, lets you commandeer one of Canabalt’s many pigeons as you avoid razor-sharp spikes. Both games are near-impossible to survive for more than three seconds at a time.

If you’re a fan of Flappy Bird’s masochist game mechanics, be sure to try them both out. If you’re in the mood for something flappier, try one of these Flappy Bird clones.
