Huawei has a curious item on display at its Mobile World Congress booth this year: the TalkBand B1. It’s a fitness tracker that pops out of its band and into your ear to act as a Bluetooth 4.1 headset. The fitness aspect of the TalkBand is pretty limited; it’ll measure your steps, tell you how many hours you sleep for, and estimate how many calories you burn each day. All that information is displayed on a 1.4-inch flexible AMOLED display, which is really easy to read but sticks awkwardly out of the band.

We couldn’t try out the TalkBand as a Bluetooth headset, but we’re assured it’ll offer 7 hours talk time and standby of a week, even when using its fitness features. The band charges through a USB connector neatly integrated into the band, and can use NFC to pair with your phone wirelessly (it can also pair with phones that don’t have NFC). Huawei says you’ll also be able to use the built-in NFC to do things like check in and make payments without taking your phone out of your pocket. Unlike many products we see at trade shows, Huawei already has a release date and price for the TalkBand. It’s coming to Europe and Asia next quarter for €99 (roughly $135).
