In so many disconcerting ways, San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area has become a kind of bedroom community for the Silicon Valley elite. Indeed, as SF Weekly reports, the Google Bus alone has become “a totem in a tumultuous class war” that pits longtime residents against the tech nouveau riche. However, even though there’s plenty to deride about Valley values, the ongoing culture war, rooted for some in the Bay’s history of political dissent and protest, may be somewhat misguided when it comes to dealing with problems that don’t concern start-ups.
