Elmo and Cookie Monster are taking on Netflix. The Sesame Workshop has just launched its own streaming service that lets you stream as many Sesame Street episodes as you want for a monthly fee. Called Sesame Go, the service is browser-based, and includes access to “hundreds” of new and classic episodes of the show, as well as the animated series Pinky Dinky Doo. It’ll cost you $3.99 per month or $29.99 a year. At launch the service is only available in the US, and works on Mac, Windows, and mobile devices.

While Netflix already offers a large range of children’s content, Sesame Go appears to be appealing to parents not only with its cheaper price tag, but also with an interface designed specifically for kids. “Sesame Go’s video player was specially customized with little hands in mind,” the company explains, and that includes bigger buttons and brighter colors. This is far from Sesame Street’s first foray into the world of online video, however, as last year the show’s YouTube page managed to crack one billion views.
