Terry Gilliam doesn’t want Monty Python to reunite

Terry Gilliam is probably least recognized for his work as a member of Monty Python, but is by now a larger-than-life director. After creating the iconic, bafflingly bizarre aesthetic for the troupe, he went on direct classics like 12 Monkeys and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Right now, he’s working on bringing Hector Berlioz’s opera Benvenuto Cellini to the stage. But, when asked by the London Evening Standard how he felt about Monty Python’s upcoming reunion, he says he finds it “depressing.” “It’s good, seeing each other again,” he says, “but then you realise that we’re not as sharp because we like each other more.
