Roger Christian, art director for the first Star Wars movie and the man behind Black Angel, might not have had a lavish budget but he did have ingenuity to spare. The Academy Award winner used airplane scrap in the Millennium Falcon, adapted real guns for blasters, and turned a Graflex flashgun handle into the first lightsaber.
