One of the most memorable parts of Conan O’Brien’s stint as a late-night host on NBC was his foul-mouthed puppet sidekick Triumph, the Insult Comic Dog. Triumph has kept a fairly low profile since O’Brien’ left The Tonight Show in 2010 (perhaps because NBC owned the rights to the character), but now he’s coming back in a high-profile way: a new show starring Triumph (voiced and controlled by Robert Smigel) and Jack McBrayer (30 Rock) will be coming to the Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim this fall.
Triumph the Insult Comic Dog returns to TV on Adult Swim this fall

The show doesn’t have an official title yet, but it will put Triumph in the role of a washed-up former TV dog star from the ‘80s who featured in a wholesome, Lassie-type role. The new show will tell the tale of his adventures after reuniting with with McBrayer, his co-star from his glory days. It’s not clear if the world is ready for Triumph and McBrayer to carry an entire series, but we’ll find out this fall.
