Breakups are hard. Space break ups are even worse. Such is the plot behind Space/Off, an arcade-style game that has two players fighting one another (with bombs, lasers, and words) in space ships after a seemingly unpleasant breakup. The game has a simple and stylish pixelated look — clearly inspired by Star Control — and three different game modes, which each have people battling with different weapons and mechanics. It’s all fairly straightforward, but the real fun of it is that Space/Off has to be played by two people in the same room, on the same computer. So find a friend and passive aggressively work out your problems: Space/Off is available on Mac and PC for $5.
