Kobo says its new Aura H20 is certified to be able to spend up to 30 minutes in one meter of water, making it ideal to use at the beach, in the bath, or as the company’s slightly unsettling press images suggest, after synchronized swimming training sessions.

— Kobo (@kobo) August 26, 2014 The device has 265 dpi e-ink technology — the highest resolution currently available in an e-reader — and a 6.8 inch anti-glare touchscreen that should make books readable while paddling in a hotel pool. It retails for £140 in the UK, and €180 in Europe, while the Kindle Paperwhite is available for €70 less.
