T-Mobile adds Songza, Rdio, others to Music Freedom; Google Play Music ‘later this year’

Apparently T-Mobile remains unfazed by net neutrality concerns over its Music Freedom initiative; today the carrier added several new music streaming services to the program. Users of Songza, Rdio, Grooveshark, AccuRadio, Black Planet, and Radio Paradise can now stream endless music from those services, and none of that listening will count against their data plan. Today’s batch joins a list that already included Spotify, Pandora, iTunes Radio, iHeartRadio, Slacker Radio, and other popular streaming products.

T-Mobile announced Music Freedom as its latest “Uncarrier” endeavor back in June, and immediately gave subscribers the opportunity to vote for future additions. There’s just one problem: the streaming service that overwhelmingly earned the most votes still isn’t part of Music Freedom. T-Mobile says Google Play Music is the most requested service among its customers, but as of today, streaming music from Google will still affect your overall data usage. The carrier insists it’s “on track” to add support for Google Play Music later this year.
