The software maker is cutting around 4,700 jobs at a former Nokia handset factory in Beijing, but the plans have generated protests recently. As a result, Microsoft is trying to tempt workers to resign on a "first come, first serve" basis with an offer of the Lumia 630. The same employees work in the factory helping manufacture Nokia handsets.

MarketWatch reports that the offer was emailed to employees, noting that up to 300 workers per day are eligible for the free Lumia 630. It’s not unusual for companies to offer severance packages to workers, but it’s rare for employees to be offered a product they’re helping create in factories.
