In the weeks since Robin Williams’ untimely passing, rumor within the World of Warcraft fan community had it that Blizzard was developing a new NPC as tribute to the legendary comic. The rumors seem to be true: gamers playing the Warlords of Draenor beta can already interact with a genie that spouts lines first spoken by Genie in 1994’s Aladdin.
Robin Williams tribute appears in ‘World of Warcraft’ expansion beta

The new model was first revealed on Wowhead.com, a World of Warcraft database site. According to Polygon, players who travel to Talador, one of the new areas created for the expansion, can interact with an object known as “The Ever-Burning Lamp” to summon the genie. Fans may note that the character model was first seen in the Cataclysm expansion, but when summoned, the character now says “INFINITE COSMIC POWER! Itty bitty living space,” which was, to our money, one of Genie’s best lines. It’s possible that other homages to Williams’ work will appear in the game, but Blizzard is currently keeping mum on the subject. All will be revealed with the expansion officially launches on November 13th.
