Watch a Progress cargo spacecraft launch to the International Space Station

NASA

The astronauts aboard the International Space Station are set to get new food, water, and supplies today. A Russian Progress spacecraft, filled with cargo for the ISS, is scheduled to take off on top of a Soyuz rocket from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan at 12:49PM ET. After launch, the Progress will make four orbits around Earth and then dock to the Zvezda module on the station at 6:45PM ET.

If all goes well, this will be the third successful resupply mission following the SpaceX Falcon 9 failure in June. The SpaceX explosion was one of three ISS cargo missions to fail within the past year, including a botched launch from Orbital Sciences last October and a Progress spacecraft that malfunctioned on its way the station in April. Now, NASA and Roscosmos are trying to get back on track and reestablish a reliable flow of supplies to the orbiting lab.

Coverage of the launch will begin at 12:30PM ET, while coverage of the craft docking with the station will begin at 6:15PM ET. You can watch both events at the live stream above.
