Amazon has always done a lot of things, and that means trying a lot of things that don’t always pan out. The Fire Phone is a great example: Amazon tried to get into the lucrative smartphone business, but it never gave buyers a compelling reason to choose its device. And so the Fire Phone went nowhere, and a year later sold out for good. It was a strong enough lesson that Amazon apparently decided to close down a number of other hardware projects, too.
But that was one of Amazon’s bigger projects, one that was covered thoroughly from start to finish. A lot of Amazon’s other projects have come and gone without the masses noticing. So here’s a brief list of some of the many things that Amazon has shut down in the (somewhat) recent past, most of which seem to have either arrived or departed without much attention.
