Luc Besson announced on Instagram today that Rihanna will have “a big part” in his upcoming sci-fi epic Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. This is the singer’s third film role after a small part in the brand-activation misfire Battleship and doing voice work for the Dreamworks animated movie Home (which is about aliens!).
Rihanna has been cast in ‘a big part’ in Luc Besson’s next sci-fi epic

Valerian was announced in May with Cara Delevigne (of Paper Towns, the upcoming Suicide Squad, and Taylor Swift’s friend circle) and Dane DeHaan (the most recent on-screen Green Goblin) slated to star. The film is based on a French graphic novel set in the 28th century and centered around the discovery of time travel.

— Luc Besson (@lucbesson) October 28, 2015 Fans of The Fifth Element should be excited that Besson is back to building massive sci-fi worlds for the big screen. Fans of his most recent work, Lucy, should think for a minute about the fact that the movie ends with the line, and this is not a joke, “Life was given to us a billion years ago. Now you know what you can do with it.”
