Google Cardboard is kind of a cute concept on its own, and many companies have harnessed it as a promotional tool. But the Star Wars-themed headsets that go with Disney’s new mini-VR experience are the single most adorable headsets I have ever seen. There are four different variations, themed around Kylo Ren, R2-D2, a Stormtrooper helmet, and BB-8, who has already been paired with the word “adorable” multiple times on this site. And 200,000 of them are currently available across the US.

Sadly, not everyone can get them. They’re being handed out free in all Verizon retail stores — the company had around 1,700 as of last year — but only to paying Verizon customers. A spokesperson told me that supplies will theoretically last a couple of weeks, although that seems optimistic given the excitement around Star Wars.

As we noted last week, the headsets are launching alongside a VR-based teaser for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which is being released in snippets right up until the film’s premiere on December 18th. Jakku Spy is available through the Star Wars app for iOS and Android, and I’m not talking about it much here because there’s not a whole lot to tell. The first installment is under a minute long, counting the opening crawl, and it’s simple to experience for yourself with any Google Cardboard headset — if you don’t have one, you can also see a flat version on your phone. For now, here’s a closer look at the Star Wars Cardboard designs.
