The latest free DLC add-on for Super Mario Maker includes an unlockable costume for Mario, which transforms the hero into a pixelated Mercedes-Benz GLA (Mario sits behind the wheel). How do you unlock the costume? Well, Mercedes has gone ahead and created its own custom level for the game, called “Mercedes-Benz Jump’n’Drive.” Beat it and the GLA is yours.
It may seem like a bizarre collaboration, but Mercedes doesn’t see it that way. In a press release announcing the news, the company’s VP of marketing Dr. Jens Thiemer said that “Mercedes-Benz and Super Mario have a lot in common. Above all, they share the same vision: to inspire their customers and fans.” That, and an NES cart can cost as much as a new S-Class.
