Going Clear, director Alex Gibney’s adaptation of author Lawrence Wright’s riveting exposé of the Church of Scientology was one of the most talked about premieres at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. We got a chance to see it, and it’s quite a mind-blower: highlights include a breakdown of the Church’s war against the IRS in the ‘90s and an account of a highly secretive, very systematic search for a girlfriend for Tom Cruise in the wake of his divorce from Nicole Kidman.

And unlike so many of the indie titles at Sundance, many of which take months to hit theaters — if they reach them at all — you'll be able to see Going Clear very soon: it makes TV debut in just over a month. Some critics are already saying this film could be the death knell for the "religion" — we'll find out when it makes its debut on HBO on March 29th.
