SXSW, one of the year’s biggest celebrations of startups, film, and music, kicks off next month. The weeklong festival’s film lineup has just been announced, and it features a number of heavy hitters, including the world premiere of Oscar-winning director Alex Gibney’s new documentary Steve Jobs: The Man in the Machine.

A re-evaluation of Jobs' legacy
Details behind Gibney’s new Jobs-inspired documentary are scarce, though it’s currently being billed as a re-examination of the Apple founder’s legacy. The film marks the director’s second festival outing of the year, after Going Clear, his Scientology documentary, debuted at Sundance to much acclaim.
Joining Steve Jobs: The Man in the Machine at the festival are the North American debut of 28 Days Later director Alex Garland’s sci-fi thriller Ex Machina and a look at Judd Apatow’s new film Trainwreck, starring Amy Schumer and Tilda Swinton. SXSW is now in its 22nd year, and the festival boasts an impressive 145 new films, with 100 making their worldwide debut. As always, we’ll be on the ground reporting on the best of what we see.
