In his upcoming book Believer: My Forty Years in Politics, Obama's chief campaign advisor David Axelrod details a private meeting between Obama and Steve Jobs, 9to5Mac reports. This was in early 2007, before the iPhone was released in June. According to Alexrod, Obama said after the meeting, "If it were legal, I would buy a boatload of Apple stock. This thing is going to be really big."
Given Apple’s recent first quarter earnings, which included the sale of 74.5 million iPhones and the highest quarterly profit in the company’s history, Obama wasn’t wrong.
