Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck premiered at Sundance Film Festival earlier this year to a swell of positive reviews, including this piece by our own Bryan Bishop. The film — a mix of personal video, archive footage, and animation — details the life of Nirvana’s lead singer. “We really felt we wanted the film to be raw,” said director Brett Morgen following a Sundance screening. “We wanted it to be unflinching, and we didn’t want to make Kurt into a saint. But this film is made with a tremendous amount of love.”
